This badly faded photograph was
brought to me by the proud father of his little girl.
His daughter is now grown up and
this is her favourite photograph of when she was a
child.
With her pending birthday, Dad
decided to see if anything could be done to rectify the
colour loss.
That part was relatively easy,
what cause the headache was the hundreds of tiny cracks
all over the surface. It reminded me of a broken car
windscreen. You know when it shatters into thousands of
very small piece.
Touching out all of them would
have been cost prohibited so with the clients approval I
added a canvass texture to masked them and gave the
picture the appearance it was printed on canvass.

This lovely photograph of my
clients late parents, was proudly displayed in the
conservatory of her home. But unfortunately the sun
light has bleached the colours and given it a blue tint.
This is something that
unfortunately happens to photographs which are exposed
to direct sunlight. However the fading can be rectified
and the image transformed back to its original colours.

Its not often I get asked to
photograph comparisons these
days. But to be fair I did offer to do it.
These two photographs belong to
the family of a very old friend. They were wondering if
they were the same person.
It is very easy to prove that
photographs of two similar looking people are not the
same person. But very hard to prove they are the same
person, especially if the photograph are taken years
part and show the face at different angles.
However, the proportions and
position of the facial features of these two are so very
much alike that there is a strong possibility that they
are in fact the same person. The one on the right being
probably as an older man.
Several features are constant in
a person as they age and do not alter unless
traumatized.
In the animated image you can
see the comparison lines I have used and the facial
features of both men match. The only time you would
expect to see this is with another human is if the
subjects were identical twins.

Well I have restored photographs
from Canada, Italy and New Zealand. But this one comes
from Russia.
The photograph was taken many years ago, and shows a
young boy with his grandfather. The young boy is now a
grown man, who now lives in England and this is a very
special photograph to him.
So my client, a friend of this young man wanted me to
restore it for him as a birthday present.
I hope he likes the restored image and that it will take

this client.
As you can see they are all
suffering from wear and tear, some more than others.
I have not over worked these
photographs, I have repaired the damage and retouch
areas that needed it. You will also notice that several
have been cropped.
This was done at the clients
request and not something I like to do. But in this
instance it has made better composite photographs, as
the areas cropped out where of no value to the

A lovely WW1 photograph of this
clients Grandfather with his beloved horse.
The mount has suffered from damp
and the loss of a corner. The photograph was
discoloured, marked and water stained. Plus someone had
drawn dark lines around the trouser legs and
jacket.
I converted the image to black
and white adjusted the levels to add more contrast and
included some burning to bring out the dappled markings
on the horse. Blemishes and marks where retouched.
Finally I increased the height of the photograph, to meet
with modern paper sizes, by stretching the top few

had faded over the years and had become a little scruffy

stonework.

This is one of the most amazing
photograph enhancements I think I have ever done.
The lady in the photographs came
to me and asked if I could bring her dated wedding
photograph up to date.
She explained that when her and
her husband got married they could not afford a
professional photographer and a friend of her father
took the photographs.
My client was unsure what she
wanted but sent me several modern day wedding
backgrounds she thought would look nice. After I had
explained the then having copyright restrictions on
them, she became a little unhappy. So not wishing to
lose a client I suggested I create a couple of
backgrounds which were free of copyright.
The resulting two photographs on
the right are the result.
My client liked them both and
couldn't decide which one to have. So she ordered both.

our requirements to refresh our tired looking, 35 yr.

Using his considerable skills

We also discussed our
preferences with him for a new background for our photo
and David created two backgrounds for us to choose from,
however, we couldn't decide which of the two backgrounds
to choose from as they were both brilliant so we have

the colour as faded and detail as been lost in the

detail and colour back.

This project is another for a
regular client.
The top photograph restoration
is her favorite wedding photograph. Unfortunately the
light has faded the colour. so I was asked to restore
the colour to how it was.
Problem is, it's a bit of
a guess when it come to the colours. It's usually that
long ago people have actually forgotten the shade of the
colours. So I always go with the presumption that the
Bride's dress is white. So if I get that right
everything else should fall into place.
The bottom photograph is not
really a Photograph restoration. It's more of a remake
of a Sympathy card.
My client lost her daughter at a
very young age and this card was sent to her by a
friend. The words she wrote inside the card are very
moving and very personal. That's why I have not shown
them. Also the poem The Hope Range is also very moving.
Because of that it was her pride and joy and of great
sentimental value.
As the card started to fade and
wear a friend took it upon themself, to laminate it in
order to stop the card deteriorating any further.
Unfortunately due to the small gem stones on the face of
the card it became stuck inside the laminator. You can
see what happened in the photo.
So I was asked if I could do
something with it.
The only thing I could do was to
remake it from scratch.
And a very rewarding job it was
to, when I saw the joy on her face as she opened the
envelope to view it.

for a friend and fellow crafter. Sara had taken the
photograph on her phone of her stall at a craft fair we

a publicity shot.
But when she looked at it later
on she realized that she had also captured a
gentleman's reflection in one of the mirrors, there was
also a poster on the wall behind the stall.
So with a quick flick of my pen

photograph but was unhappy that the youngster's very dry
skin was showing and the parents were asking if anything

This was my contribution. I
created a copy of the image added a slight blur filter
and then blended the two together just enough to remove
the dry skin but without loosing the skin tone and
texture. I the masked out the eyes, nose and mouth to
bring back their sharpness. I also changed the colour of

I had 2 photographs restored by
David. One was every damaged. The results were fantastic
and my mum was over the moon with them. Would definitely
use this service again. David was very friendly and
professional and the service was very quick and
efficient !

This old photograph of
workmen leaving after a long hard days work. Is part of
our heritage which needs preserving.
So by restoring the colour and the retouching of the
damage, I feel that the photograph has been restored to
it former glory and will still be around in another 70
years time..

These two lovely photographs
have hung in this clients office for several years and
unfortunately suffered colour change, due to exposure to
sunlight.
But all was not lost even though the negatives where.

"David scanned, repaired (some
major repairs) and enhanced a total of over 160 old
photos, mostly from the 1930s to late 70s for me which I
collected today. The photographs are part of my Fathers
collection which I am having restored as a surprise xmas
gift for him and I cannot wait to see his face! He is
going to be well chuffed with the work done and for the
first time in decades he will be able to see the images
as they were originally and in quite a few cases better
than they were originally.
My thanks goes out to David for a job very well done and
he has treated the restoration of the photos with great
care and attention and I am looking forward to see the
results for the next batch I dropped off today for
repairs and restoration."

This lovely photograph from a
regular client of herself and her husband. Unfortunately
the frame had broken and needed to be replaced. but it
was discovered that it had become stuck to the
glass of picture frame and was ripping the paper when
they tried to remove it.
Fortunately I was able to scan
the image through the glass and retouch the damaged
areas along the bottom and on the lady's cheek.
